About us
Steeplejack Music is an independent record label, founded in 1996 in the Rhineland just outside Cologne.
Small enough to work closely with every act, with long-standing contacts in promotion and distribution. Our priority is the long-term development of the artist — musically and on the business side — always with an eye on quality, authenticity and individuality.
Neil Grant, founder
Neil Grant is an English singer-songwriter who toured Germany and Europe with the folk band Wayfaring Strangers until the late 1990s. He founded Steeplejack Music in 1996 and Clay Hill Music publishing in 2004. From 2015 to 2026 he was one of 20 delegates of the extraordinary publisher members at GEMA, and in 2023 he was elected to the national board of the German indie association VUT.
