About 5 years ago Tim and Iain began playing together with the intention of blending their accompaniment styles, using harmony and counterpoint to explore a wide range of mostly traditional songs – from Scotland, Ireland, England and the USA. Their accompaniments are fresh and innovative but their interpretations remain faithful to these century old songs.
The new released CD ‘As The Crow Flies’ is a culmination of their efforts and features 12 thoughtfully and skillfully arranged songs, one of which is a contemporary song by Richard Thompson.
Along with Tim and Iain the album features some fine musicianship from guest musicians: Andrew Cadie on fiddle with Mark Bloomer on percussion (Broom Bezzums), Bernd Klippert, one of Germany’s top uillean pipers, Matz Scheid on double bass (Odenwälder Shanty Choir) and Frank Webber on bodhran (Fleadh).
